	CREATING ENABLING LEGISLATION TO ALLOW CITY OF CRANSTON EMPLOYEES
	WHO ARE MEMBERS OF LOCAL 1363, INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE
	FIGHTERS, AFL-CIO TO BE EXEMPT FROM THE RHODE ISLAND MUNICIPAL
	EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general law or public law to the contrary, all City of
2	Cranston employees who are members of the Local 1363, International Association of Fire
3	Fighters, AFL-CIO are hereby exempt from the Rhode Island Municipal Employees' Retirement
4	System and therefore the City of Cranston may, by ordinance or resolution, consider all such
5	employees for a city-sponsored defined contribution plan.
6	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1	This act would provide that certain Cranston fire fighters in Local 1363 would be exempt
2	from the municipal employees' retirement system and would allow the city of Cranston to
3	consider all such employees for a city-sponsored defined contribution plan.
4	This act would take effect upon passage.
