A N   A C T

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES -- ADMINISTRATION OF STATE INSTITUTIONS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 40-2-12 of the General Laws in Chapter 40-2 entitled

"Administration of State Institutions" is hereby repealed.

     40-2-12. Protection of health of residents. -- In exercising the power and authority to

provide for the care and physical welfare of the inmates, prisoners, patients, and pupils in the

several institutions under its control and for the protection of the public health, the department of

human services shall furnish all necessary medical aid and attention, and shall take all necessary

steps to promote the health of the inmates, prisoners, patients, and pupils, and especially to guard

them and the general public against all dangerous, infectious, and contagious diseases at the

institutions.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would repeal an outdated statute providing for the care and physical welfare of

inmates, prisoners, parents and pupils in the institutions under the control of the department of

human services.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
