RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- DEALERSHIPS

     Introduced By: Representatives Azzinaro, Corvese, McNamara, Fellela, and Hull

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-5.1 of the General Laws entitled "Regulation of Business

Practices Among Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, Distributors, and Dealers" is hereby amended by

adding thereto the following section:

     31-5.1-22. Spare tire modification.

     (a) Motor vehicle dealerships licensed to make sales in this state shall, as an adjunct to a

motor vehicle sale, disclose by a signed statement whether or not the vehicle is equipped with a

spare tire, which can be either a full-sized spare of the same configuration as the road wheels or a

"compact spare," so called.

     (b) Failure to provide the signed disclosure shall be a misdemeanor, and upon conviction

the license holder shall be fined in an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100).

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would require motor vehicle dealers to disclose whether or not a vehicle being

sold has a spare tire.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
