AN ACT RELATING TO BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE, DEVELOPMENTAL | |
DISABILITIES AND HOSPITALS – MENTAL HEALTH CONSUMER ADVOCATES OF | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Title 40.1 of the General Laws entitled "BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE, |
2 | DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND HOSPITALS" is hereby amended by adding thereto |
3 | the following chapter: |
4 | CHAPTER 8.6 |
5 | MENTAL HEALTH CONSUMER ADVOCATES OF RHODE ISLAND - OASIS WELLNESS |
6 | AND RECOVERY CENTER |
7 | 40.1-8.6-1. Short title. |
8 | This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Mental Health Consumer |
9 | Advocates of Rhode Island – Oasis Wellness and Recovery Center Act". |
10 | 40.1-8.6-2. Purpose. |
11 | To ensure that Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island is able to continue |
12 | providing evidence-based peer support, information, and education about fighting the |
13 | stigmatization of mental illness, and through the Oasis Wellness and Recovery Center offer a |
14 | comprehensive program of long- and short-term evidence-based peer supports ranging from |
15 | employment to just a friendly, helping hand, and remain dedicated to the continuous support of |
16 | persons living with serious and persistent mental illness and the well-being of its members. |
17 | 40.1-8.6-3. Appropriations. |
18 | The general assembly shall annually appropriate the sum of two hundred and ninety-five |

1 | thousand dollars ($295,000) to the Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island and the |
2 | Oasis Wellness and Recovery Center; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to |
3 | draw his orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, or so much thereof as |
4 | may be from time to time required, upon receipt of properly authenticated vouchers. |
5 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
