A N   A C T

RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES - REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES

     Introduced By: Representatives O'Brien, Craven, McKiernan, Williams, and Marshall

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-3 of the General Laws entitled "Registration of Vehicles" is

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     31-3-112. Special plates - Courtesy and permitted vehicles.

     (a) Any courtesy plate, commemorative plate, or special plate issued pursuant to this

chapter shall be made available for any automobile defined in §31-1-3 and for purposes of this

chapter, shall also include corporate motor vehicles or commercial vehicles having a gross weight

of ten thousand pounds (10,000 lbs.) or less.

     (b) The administrator of the division of motor vehicles shall issue or amend any rule or

regulation necessary to implement this section.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would specify that corporate motor vehicles would be included in the category of

motor vehicles eligible for courtesy or special plates.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
