RELATING TO EDUCATION - SCHOOL COMMITTEES AND SUPERINTENDENTS | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 16-2-10 of the General Laws in Chapter 16-2 entitled "School |
2 | Committees and Superintendents [See Title 16 Chapter 97 - The Rhode Island Board of |
3 | Education Act]" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
4 | 16-2-10. Certification of superintendents. |
5 | (a) No person shall be employed as superintendent of schools in any city or town unless |
6 | the person holds a certificate of qualification issued by or under the authority of the state board of |
7 | regents for council on elementary and secondary education. |
8 | (b) The fee for taking any assessment required to be licensed and certified as a |
9 | superintendent shall be waived for any candidate who possesses a doctorate degree. |
10 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
