RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- STATE POLICE | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 42-28 of the General Laws entitled "State Police" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 42-28-2.1. Ranking of alternates for state police training academy. |
4 | (a) The superintendent of the state police shall require that any applicant for the Rhode |
5 | Island state police training academy who is not selected for the class but placed on a list of |
6 | potential alternates for the class shall be ranked according to objective qualification standards. |
7 | (b) Any vacancy occurring during any class of the Rhode Island state police training |
8 | academy shall be filled by the highest-ranking applicant on the list required by this section. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
