CONGRATULATING LIEUTENANT DAVID A. DOUCET ON THE OCCASION OF HIS | |
RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF | |
THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Throughout history, our nation has been propitiously blessed with men and |
2 | women who are willing to step forward and safeguard the freedoms and liberties we hold so dear. |
3 | These often unsung heroes go about the day-to-day task of upholding the laws of this state and it |
4 | is fitting that we recognize their value and myriad contributions; and |
5 | WHEREAS, David Doucet grew up in the City of Pawtucket and graduated from Tolman |
6 | High School. He earned his Associate's degree in Administration of Justice from Roger Williams |
7 | University and entered the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy in 1985; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Upon graduation from the Academy, Officer Doucet joined the Pawtucket |
9 | Police Department as a Patrolman serving until 1989, when he accepted a position with the |
10 | Smithfield Police Department; and |
11 | WHEREAS, In 1992, Officer Doucet graduated from the Rhode Island State Police |
12 | Training Academy and began his career with the Rhode Island State Police, stationed at the |
13 | Portsmouth Barracks until October of 1992, followed by placement at the Hope Valley Barracks |
14 | through 1993; and |
15 | WHEREAS, By consistently demonstrating integrity and outstanding leadership skills, |
16 | Officer Doucet was promoted to Corporal in 2007, Sergeant in May of 2009, and Lieutenant in |
17 | 2012. He has served with the Commercial Enforcement Unit, the Detective Bureau, the Financial |
18 | Crimes Unit, Computer Crimes Unit, Auto Theft Unit, and most recently as the Acting Director |
19 | of Enforcement for the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with the State Police, Lt. Doucet has earned the |
2 | respect of his fellow officers and has earned a plethora of commendations including, six |
3 | Departmental Commendations, one of which was a Special Commendation, and several Letters of |
4 | Recognition; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Lt. Doucet is truly "an officer and a gentleman" and the citizenry of Rhode |
6 | Island lead far safer and more secure lives due to his extraordinary career. His dedication to the |
7 | job and respect for his fellow police officers will be sorely missed, although there is little doubt |
8 | that in his heart he will always be part of the force; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives hereby recognizes, honors, and thanks |
10 | Lt. David A. Doucet, on the occasion of his retirement after more than thirty years of steadfast |
11 | service to the people of the State of Rhode Island. We wish him good health, fulfillment, and |
12 | continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Lieutenant David A. Doucet. |
