	RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Section 31-3-17.2 of the General Laws in Chapter 31-3 entitled
2	"Registration of Vehicles" is hereby amended to read as follows:
3	31-3-17.2. Civil defense plates.Emergency management plates.
4	The administrator of the division of motor vehicles may issue to the civil defense
5	preparedness emergency management director or designee of each city and town, of each college
6	and university, and of the state emergency management agency for as long as such person
7	remains a civil defense preparedness an emergency management director, a special identifying
8	number plate in place of any regular number plate assigned to each director at the time of the
9	registration of a motor vehicle. The number shall be in numerical sequence preceded by the words
10	"civil defense" "emergency management" or some similar appropriate designation, and the
11	numbers shall be issued to the directors in alphabetical order according to the names of their
12	respective city or town.
13	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

	RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES

1	This act would amend the statute regarding civil defense license plates to provide that
2	such plates shall now be identified as emergency management plates, and would further provide
3	that the plates may be issued to emergency management directors of municipalities, colleges,
4	universities and the state emergency management agency.
5	This act would take effect upon passage.
