CONGRATULATING IGGY'S DOUGHBOYS & CHOWDER HOUSE IN WARWICK,

RHODE ISLAND, FOR BEING INCLUDED IN COASTAL LIVING MAGAZINE'S "20 ALL-

TIME BEST SEAFOOD DIVES" LIST

     WHEREAS, Since 1989, Iggy's Doughboys and Chowder House, known popularly as

"Iggy's" and located in Oakland Beach, Warwick, Rhode Island, has been offering its patrons

delectable family fare and gorgeous views of Narragansett Bay at its landmark location. Its beach

stand was built in 1924, and is the oldest in Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, Iggy's Doughboys and Chowder House was formerly known as Gus's when,

in 1989, one of their employees, Gaetano Gravino, purchased the beach stand. At first, Iggy's

offered a limited menu of doughboys, clamcakes and chowder, but through the years, thanks to its

immense popularity, Iggy's menu has grown to include more than fifty items with the additions of

seafood dinners, burgers, various appetizers and other popular fare. Iggy's is a labor of love for

the Gravino family and their employees, and they never waver from their focus of providing tasty

food at reasonable prices in a family-friendly environment; and

     WHEREAS, Most recently, Time Inc.'s Coastal Living magazine ranked Iggy's at No. 14

in their rating of the "20 All-Time Best Seafood Dives". Iggy's was one of only four New

England restaurants to be included in this list. Coastal Living Contributing Editor Steve Millburg

said of Iggy's, "Every bite of the buttery herb-kissed New England clam chowder at Iggy's makes

me close my eyes and smile." He went on to add "And I can't resist the little square doughnuts

that Iggy's calls "doughboys"; neither can every resident of the Ocean State, as far as I can tell.

Grab an extra half dozen for the road"; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House for being

included in Coastal Living Magazine's "20 All-Time Best Seafood Dives" list; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to David Gravino and Mary Ann Soares.
