H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF UMILE RITACCO

     WHEREAS, Umile Ritacco of Westerly, Rhode Island, passed away on April 23, 2017.

2

He was the beloved husband of Maria Ritacco; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ritacco was born in Bisignano, Italy, on April 20, 1944, a son of the

4

late Salvatore and Rosario Ritacco; and

5

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ritacco moved to New York from Italy in 1961, and later settled in

6

Westerly in 1969. He was always a hard-working and industrious man. He and his family have

7

owned and operated Ritacco’s Market on Oak Street in Westerly for 48 years; and

8

     WHEREAS, Besides Maria, his wife of 51 years, Mr. Ritacco is survived by his children,

9

John Ritacco and his wife, Chrissy, Bob Ritacco and his wife, Gayle, and Melissa Ritacco. He

10

also leaves behind his grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Julia, Anthony and Gianna, and his

11

siblings, Elena Fiore, Francesco Ritacco, Giuseppe Ritacco, and Mario Ritacco. He was the

12

brother of the late Vincenzo Ritacco, Angelo Ritacco, and Maria Ambrosecchio; and

13

      WHEREAS, Mr. Ritacco was a member of the Westerly Lodge of Elks #678 and was a

14

faithful communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Westerly. Most importantly, he was a

15

loving husband, a devoted father, and a good friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew

16

and loved him; now, therefore be it

17

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

18

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences on the passing of Umile Ritacco; and be

19

it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Maria Ritacco and Family.
