H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF

THE PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS PROFESSION

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Bennett, McNamara, Canario, Corvese, and Serpa

     WHEREAS, Quality, affordable and accessible patient-centered health care, provided by

2

Physician Assistants contributes to the well-being and quality of life of all patients in Rhode

3

Island; and

4

     WHEREAS, Physician Assistants practice medicine in collaboration with physicians in

5

all settings and specialties, including the diagnosis and treatment of disease, assisting in surgery

6

and prescribing medications; and

7

     WHEREAS, A valuable asset to the medical team, Physician Assistants practice

8

medicine in collaboration with physicians to enhance the delivery of high-quality health care for

9

patients, often in medically underserved and rural areas; and

10

     WHEREAS, Physician Assistants have been improving patient outcomes and moving

11

health care forward since the creation of the profession in 1967; and

12

     WHEREAS, For 50 years, Physician Assistants have earned the trust of general public

13

for their dedication and contributions to patients' lives; and

14

     WHEREAS, For the next 50 years and beyond, Physician Assistants will continue to

15

work within the health care team to make our health care system more effective, more efficient

16

and more accessible while providing increased quality to patients; now, therefore be it

17

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

18

Providence Plantations hereby recognizes the 50th Anniversary of the Physician Assistants'

19

profession, and encourages all of our residents to recognize Physician Assistants for the

significant impact they have made and the high-quality health care they have provided over the

2

past five decades; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That The Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Academy of Physician

5

Assistants.
