H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING GAIL PARELLA AND LISA SIENKIEWICZ ON BEING NAMED CO-

CHIEF MARSHALS OF THE 2017 BRISTOL 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION AND PARADE

     WHEREAS, Gail Parella and Lisa Sienkiewicz, outstanding members of the Bristol

2

community, have received the prestigious honor of being named Co-Chief Marshals of the

3

nation's oldest, perpetual 4th of July Parade, held in Bristol, Rhode Island; and

4

     WHEREAS, Life-long residents of Bristol, sisters Gail and Lisa grew up in the family

5

business and are the current owners of Gil's Appliances; and

6

     WHEREAS, Ms. Parella is a graduate of Bishop Connelly High School and earned her

7

Bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College. She has been married to Joe Parella for seventeen

8

years and together they are the proud parents of three sons, Matthew, Joey, and Peter; and

9

     WHEREAS, Ms. Sienkiewicz is a graduate of Our Lady of Fatima High School and has

10

been married to Frank Sienkiewicz for twenty-six years. Together they are the proud parents of

11

two children, Sarah and Alex; and

12

     WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the betterment of their community, sisters Gail Parella

13

and Lisa Sienkiewicz have donated numerous hours to local volunteer work and are

14

communicants of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where Lisa is also a lector; and

15

     WHEREAS, In addition to her family and working at Gil's, Ms. Parella is a member of

16

the Sons of Italy, the East Bay and Newport chambers of commerce, and a parent volunteer for

17

Bristol's King Philip Little League. In addition, she and her husband are former Chairpersons of

18

the Catholic Charity Fund Appeal for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church; and

19

     WHEREAS, Ms. Sienkiewicz is a member of 100 Women Who Care RI, the East Bay

and Newport chambers of commerce, the Gordon School Heads Advisory Council, and class

2

parent coordinator for Portsmouth Abbey Fifth Form. She was a former member of the Bristol

3

Fourth of July Committee, and had previously served as the co-president of the Gordon

4

Community Association and the Gordon Centennial Celebration, and was a member of the

5

Gordon School Finance Committee; and

6

     WHEREAS, As is the case with many residents of Bristol, Gail Parella and Lisa

7

Sienkiewicz are proud of the fact that they have never missed a single Bristol 4th of July

8

celebration and they are humbled by the fact that they will be leading the annual parade through

9

the streets of Bristol. Their devotion to the community and their philanthropic endeavors have

10

distinguished them as persons worthy of this illustrious honor as well as our admiration and

11

gratitude; now, therefore be it

12

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

13

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Gail Parella and Lisa Sienkiewicz on being named

14

Co-Chief Marshals of the 232nd annual Bristol 4th of July celebration and parade. We commend

15

them for their many extraordinary achievements and contributions, and wish them continued

16

health, happiness and success in all their future endeavors; and be it further

17

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

18

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Gail Parella and Lisa Sienkiewicz.
