HONORING JOHN D. MUGGERIDGE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER | |
MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF ACCOMPLISHED LEADERSHIP AT FIDELITY | |

1 | WHEREAS, In preparation for what has become a resoundingly successful career, John |
2 | Muggeridge attained his Bachelor's degree in 1980 from the Massachusetts Institute of |
3 | Technology. Upon graduation, he worked for Fidelity Investments in various operations |
4 | positions; and |
5 | WHEREAS, In 1986, Mr. Muggeridge joined Compliance Engineering as a Publisher and |
6 | was responsible for the creation and development of the company's publications, marketing, |
7 | advertising sale and pricing strategies which ultimately resulted in the company sales reaching |
8 | $1.2 million within its first four years of operation; and |
9 | WHEREAS, In 1990, Mr. Muggeridge began his Master's degree program at |
10 | Northeastern University while serving as a Director of Real Estate Planning in Boston. Upon |
11 | completion of his degree, he took a position as Vice President of Corporate Real Estate in |
12 | Kentucky, where he oversaw the planning and transition of the 200 acre construction site of |
13 | Fidelity's first development outside of New England into a campus encompassing three buildings |
14 | that accommodate more than 1000 staff members; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In 2000, Mr. Muggeridge relocated to Rhode Island, taking a position as |
16 | Vice President of Corporate Real Estate for Fidelity's establishment of operations in Rhode |
17 | Island. His responsibilities included serving as site executive as well as managing all aspects of |
18 | Fidelity's public, community and government introduction into Rhode Island; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Consistently demonstrating that no amount of effort is too great to put forth |

1 | in accomplishing Fidelity's goals, Mr. Muggeridge was once again promoted and named Regional |
2 | General Manager for the company in 2000. During his tenure as Regional Manager, he |
3 | spearheaded the company's Public Affairs functions including, Government Relations, Employee |
4 | Engagement, Community Relations and Site Management; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Most recently, Mr. Muggeridge served as Fidelity's Vice President of Public |
6 | Affairs where he established priorities, implemented policies, developed legislation, and brought |
7 | together myriad local and state-wide stakeholders in order to ensure Fidelity and our state's |
8 | growth and success; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Muggeridge's community involvement also includes membership and |
10 | leadership positions with a panoply of local and state organizations including serving as the |
11 | Board Chair of the Highlander Institute, member of the Board of Trustees for the Rhode Island |
12 | School of Design Museum Development Committee, a member of the Board of Directors for |
13 | WaterFire Providence Strategic Planning Committee and Vice Chair of its Executive Committee, |
14 | and a member of the Advisory Board for the Bryant University School of Business, to name just a |
15 | few; and |
16 | WHEREAS, John Muggeridge has been an immeasurable asset to Fidelity and his innate |
17 | and acquired knowledge as well as the trust and relationships he has built over the course of his |
18 | illustrious career have enriched and expanded Rhode Island's business climate; now, therefore be |
19 | it |
20 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
21 | Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and honors John D. Muggeridge on the occasion of his |
22 | retirement after more than thirty years of accomplished leadership at Fidelity Investments and |
23 | extends best wishes for his continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
24 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
25 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. John D. Muggeridge. |
