S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING CHRISTOPER NADEAU UPON ACHIEVING

SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the

2

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by only about six percent of all

3

the young men who enter scouting; and

4

     WHEREAS, Christopher Nadeau of Troop 138, West Kingston, is a remarkable young

5

man who is eminently worthy of this prestigious achievement and his accomplishments are truly

6

deserving of our recognition; and

7

     WHEREAS, Christopher began his scouting career in the first grade when he joined the

8

Cub Scouts. Over the past eleven years, Christopher has become a responsible young man who

9

has learned vital life skills. He has learned crucial leadership skills and to be accountable for his

10

actions and decisions in life. He has cooked for his Troop and done the preparation work for

11

mountain hikes. He has also served the wider community by collecting food for the less fortunate,

12

planting flags at the Veterans Cemetery, and building community gardens, sheds and bridges for

13

local community groups; and

14

     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward

15

obtaining the rank of Eagle, Christopher helped the South Kingstown Land Trust in building a 6

16

by 36 raised garden bed, fenced in with a hand built gate. The garden will be used as a

17

demonstration garden for the Samuel E. Perry Grist Mill and will be used to grow a variety of

18

vegetables; and

19

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Christopher Nadeau, who will be graduating

2

South Kingstown High School this year and plans to study physics in college, exemplifies

3

everything an Eagle Scout should be and all we hope our children will grow to be; now, therefore

4

be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

6

hereby honors Christopher Nadeau for all he has done to attain the Rank of Eagle Scout within

7

the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

9

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Christopher Nadeau.
