RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT - RHODE ISLAND REGULATORY

REFORM ACT

     

     Introduced By: Senators Archambault, Sosnowski, Miller, Conley, and Kettle

     Date Introduced: February 01, 2017

     Referred To: Senate Commerce

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 42-64.13 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Regulatory

Reform Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     42-64.13-12. Duty to streamline and coordinate interagency regulation for green

4

industries.

     The office of regulatory reform shall, in consultation with the departments of

6

environmental management, labor and training, revenue, and the coastal resources management

7

council, and plant-based and agriculture industry representatives, reduce burdensome regulations,

8

improve interagency efficiency, and coordinate the regulatory process to facilitate further

9

economic growth within plant-based industries and agriculture.

10

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would require the office of regulatory reform, in consultation with various state

departments and plant-based and agriculture industry representatives, work to facilitate economic

3

growth within plant-based industries and agriculture.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
