A N   A C T

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES - MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

     Introduced By: Senators DiPalma, Miller, Crowley, and Goldin

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 40-8 of the General Laws entitled "Medical Assistance" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     40-8-33. Parents as CNA caregivers for their children.

     The department of human services shall promulgate regulations for payments to parents

or persons to become parents who are certified nursing assistant (CNA) caregivers for their

children and submit recommendations on maintaining or expanding the program in FY 2019 to

the senate president on or before January 1, 2018. Out of monies not otherwise appropriated, the

general assembly shall appropriate the sum of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for the

fiscal year 2017-2018 for parents to be compensated as CNA caregivers for their children.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
