S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING ERIN DRUMM ON BEING NAMED "MISS IRELAND" BY THE

FRIENDLY SONS OF ST. PATRICK

     Referred To: Recommended for Immediate Consideration

     WHEREAS, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick support and promote Irish heritage and

culture. Erin Drumm, a bonnie lass with a beguiling twinkle in her eyes, has been selected to be

the 2017 "Miss Ireland" by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick; and

      WHEREAS, Currently a senior at Coventry High School, Ms. Drumm has maintained

academic excellence throughout her educational experience with the Coventry public school

system and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian National Honor Society. In

addition to her studies in Italian, she is also becoming multi-lingual in both French and Spanish,

and also plans to study Irish language; and

     WHEREAS, Erin anticipates studying foreign languages and international relations/

political science in college next fall; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to her academics, Erin has been very active is sports and

community volunteerism. She was instrumental in forming the Coventry/Smithfield High School

Girls' Hockey Team, and previously served as the team's Captain. She has also played varsity

tennis and club lacrosse, and has donated her time and energies at Special Olympics, Save the

Bay, and "Christmas Is"; and

     WHEREAS, Erin Drumm is an outstanding young lady, who has already accumulated a

plethora of honors and awards in her short lifetime, and we are proud to congratulate and

recognize her dazzling record of accomplishments; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby joins the fine organization, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, in celebrating Erin Drumm

being named the 2017 "Miss Ireland". May the eternal enchantment of the Emerald Isle infuse the

life of this lovely colleen and hold her under its gentle spell all the days of her life; and be it

further

      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Erin Drumm.
