EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LEONARDO GIARRUSSO | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Leonardo Giarrusso of Hallandale, Florida, and Johnston, Rhode Island, on March 4, 2017. He |
3 | was the husband of Rosa Giarrusso; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Leonardo Giarrusso was born in Viese, Foggia, Italy, to the late Angelo and |
5 | Donata Giarrusso. He was always an industrious and hard-working man who strived daily to |
6 | provide for his family and to be a good husband and father. To further these goals, in 1966, he |
7 | immigrated with his family to the United States, settling in the Smith Hill neighborhood of |
8 | Providence. In 1986, he co-founded A.G. & G. Inc., with his five sons. Thanks to the life lessons |
9 | he taught his five sons, and the hard-work ethic he inculcated in them, today all of them are |
10 | successful in their careers; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mr. Giarrusso was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent |
12 | with his family. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching sports on television, |
13 | especially Italian soccer and boxing; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Besides Rosa, his wife of sixty-two years, Mr. Giarrusso leaves behind his |
15 | sons, Angelo and his wife, Gina, Giovanni and his wife, Doreen, Matteo and his wife, Anne, the |
16 | Honorable Antonio Giarrusso, and his wife Janet, and Franco, and his wife, Karen. He was the |
17 | brother of Rose Ferro, Anna Brannigan, Michael Giarrusso, Patricia Marsocci, Frances Duluk, |
18 | and Lucy Polisena. He was also the brother of the late Antonio Giarrusso and Matteo Giarrusso. |
19 | He also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; now, therefore be |

1 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2 | hereby expresses its condolences to the Giarrusso Family on the passing of Leonardo Giarrusso; |
3 | and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Rosa Giarrusso and Family. |
