S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF ELODIE E. BLACKMORE

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Elodie

2

E. Blackmore, the loving wife of the late Paul A. Blackmore, MD, and the devoted mother of

3

Paula M. Blackmore, Lynette D. Hawley, and Christina M. Styron; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Blackmore was a cherished daughter of the late Leander and Bertha

5

Emin, and the sister of Kathleen Thornton, and the late B. Madonna Mott, Leah Doyle, Colette E.

6

Powers, and Leander F. Emin, Jr. She was a graduate of Rhode Island College; and

7

     WHEREAS, In addition to making a home for her family, Mrs. Blackmore had taught 1st

8

Grade at the former Dorothy T. P. Dame School, which is currently the location of the East

9

Smithfield Public Library, where Mrs. Blackmore had served as the Director of the library for 63

10

years before retiring in March of 2017; and

11

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Blackmore was also the proud and doting grandmother to four

12

grandchildren, Denise F. Hawley, David M. Hawley, Katryna A. Styron, and Vincent M. Styron;

13

and

14

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Elodie Blackmore, a gracious and gifted woman, left

15

an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved, and she will be dearly missed; now,

16

therefore be it

17

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

18

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the Blackmore Family on the passing of Elodie E.

19

Blackmore; and be it further

20

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Paula M. Blackmore, Lynette D. Hawley, and

2

Christina M. Styron.
