S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF CARLO ARMANDO GAMBA

     WHEREAS, It is with profound regret that this Senate has learned of the passing of Carlo

Armando Gamba, beloved father of Carl, Margaret, David and Katy Gamba, the proud

grandfather of Rebecca May-Cole, Adam, Jesse and Devon Gamba, and the adored companion

and best friend of Esther Willis; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Gamba was born in Cranston, and had made his home in West

Greenwich. He was a graduate of Providence College where he had earned his Master's degree in

Education; and

     WHEREAS, Proud to be the first member of his family to attend college, Mr. Gamba

spent much of his life instilling young people with the value of knowledge. He was employed as a

Teacher, Principal, and as the Director of Grant programs, one of which was the "We the People"

course which he continued to work with until his passing; and

     WHEREAS, Active in numerous professional organizations, Mr. Gamba had served as

President of the Rhode Island Retired Teachers Association and the Greater Providence Retired

Teachers Association. Until his passing, he had also assiduously worked on the Board of

Directors for the West Greenwich Library Association as well as the state legislative committee

of AARP; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Gamba had been a devoted fan of the theater and the arts. He was a

founding member of the Coventry Players Theater Group, and while his talents were not always

Broadway caliber, he thoroughly enjoyed dancing and singing in many of the group's

productions. He also relished gardening and hosting family dinners at his home; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his children and grandchildren, Mr. Gamba was blessed with a

large and loving extended family including Dennis, Sharon, Peter, Shaylyn, Madison and

Nicholas Gamba, Alexis and Cameron Terra, Linda, Karl, Andrew and Christopher Kunzmann,

David, Steven and Audra Willis; and

     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for Mr. Gamba's

family and friends. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and will be dearly missed; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Carlo Armando Gamba; and be it

further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Carl, Margaret, David and Katy Gamba, and

Esther Willis.
