CONGRATULATING THE COVENTRY HIGH SCHOOL ENVIROTHON TEAM MEMBERS | |
AND THEIR ADVISORS ON WINNING THE 2017 RHODE ISLAND ENVIROTHON | |

1 | WHEREAS, As our young people prepare to compete in the global market, competitions |
2 | and the skills inherent in the necessary preparation for these events have become evermore |
3 | popular and a tremendous opportunity for their academic development; and |
4 | WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, Coventry High School, under the guidance of |
5 | advisors, Peter Stetson, who has been with the team since 2001, and co-advisor Kritoff Foreman, |
6 | once again produced a winning team at the 2017 Rhode Island Envirothon Competition; and |
7 | WHEREAS, The Envirothon Competition is an academic and applied competition |
8 | involving Aquatics, Forestry, Soils and Wildlife, with this year's issue focusing on Agricultural |
9 | Soils and Water Conservation Stewardship; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Competing against twelve other teams, Coventry High School team |
11 | members Emily Quaresma, Kelly Bryant, Jennifer Brown, Allegra Richards, and Mariah Rietzel |
12 | won first place with their oral presentation, as well as Soils and Wildlife, second place in Forestry |
13 | and Aquatics, and third place in the environmental issue test; and |
14 | WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
15 | celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Members of Coventry High School |
16 | Envirothon team are remarkable young women who exemplify everything that young people can |
17 | achieve and they are truly deserving of our recognition and praise; now, therefore be it |
18 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
19 | hereby congratulates and applauds the Coventry High School Envirothon team for their first place |

1 | finish at the RI Envirothon Competition and wish them continued success at the Nationals and in |
2 | all their future endeavors; and be it further |
3 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
4 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Peter Stetson. |
