RELATING TO PUBLIC RECORDS -- 38 STUDIOS, LLC

     Introduced By: Senators Lombardi, Ruggerio, McCaffrey, Goodwin, and Lynch Prata

     Referred To: Senate Rules, Government Ethics and Oversight

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 38-2 of the General Laws entitled "Access to Public Records" is

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     38-2-16. 38 Studios, LLC investigation.

     Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter or state law, any investigatory

records generated or obtained by the Rhode Island state police or the Rhode Island attorney

general in conducting an investigation surrounding the funding of 38 Studios, LLC by the Rhode

Island economic development corporation shall be made available to the public; provided,

however:

     (1) With respect to all other investigatory records that this section does not permit the

release of, and birthdates, social security numbers, home addresses, financial account number(s)

of similarly sensitive personally-identifiable information, but not including the names of the

individuals themselves, collected as part of the investigation, shall be redacted from those records

prior to any release. The provisions of §12-11.1-5.1 shall not apply to information disclosed

pursuant to this section.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would provide for the release of certain records pertaining to the investigation of

38 Studios, LLC.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
