EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF EVELYN V. FARGNOLI | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Evelyn |
2 | V. Fargnoli, beloved wife of the late Ralph R. Fargnoli, cherished mother of John Fargnoli and |
3 | his wife, Bonnie, and Mary-Ellen Fargnoli, and the loving grandmother of James, John, and |
4 | Lesley Fargnoli; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Fargnoli was born in the City of Providence into the large and |
6 | loving family of the late Antonio and Bernadina Verdi. She was the sister of Elvira LaTorre and |
7 | the late Thomas, Geno and Lester Verdi, and Eleanor Paparella, Maria Teresa Ciorlano, and |
8 | Josephine Verdi; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Possessed with an abundance of business acumen, Mrs. Fargnoli was the |
10 | owner of Specialty Cleansing Company in Providence. She had also been elected to the |
11 | Providence City Council where she served for sixteen years, retiring as Council President in |
12 | 1998, and had been honored with the Italian American Verrazano Award in 1997; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In addition to making a wonderful home for her family, her business and her |
14 | service on the Providence City Council, Mrs. Fargnoli was also active in the community through |
15 | her association with a number of organizations including, President of the George J. West PTA, |
16 | Chair of the District 8 Democratic Committee, and a member of the Governor Garrahy |
17 | Commission on Libraries, the Narragansett Bay Commission, and the 5th Ward Democratic |
18 | Committee, to name just a few; and |
19 | WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Evelyn Fargnoli, a loving wife, mother and |
20 | grandmother, and a business woman and public servant, left an indelible mark on the lives of |

1 | those she knew and loved and on the community she served so well, and she will be dearly |
2 | missed; now, therefore be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
4 | hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Evelyn V. Fargnoli; and be it further |
5 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
6 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to John Fargnoli and Family, and Mary-Ellen |
7 | Fargnoli. |
