EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF EDWARD JOSEPH MCGOVERN

     WHEREAS, Edward Joseph McGovern of Coventry, Rhode Island, passed away on June

2

14, 2017. He was the loving husband of Marybeth McGovern; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. McGovern was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of the late

4

William and Elizabeth McGovern. He was a hard-working and diligent man who was employed

5

for many years with the State of Rhode Island as an Assistant Administrator for the Workman's

6

Compensation Court; and

7

     WHEREAS, In his spare time, Mr. McGovern was an accomplished cabinet maker, a

8

well-respected martial arts instructor, and a passionate fan of the New England Patriots. He was a

9

devoted husband and father, and a faithful friend who will live on forever in the hearts and

10

memories of all who knew him; and

11

     WHEREAS, Mr. McGovern, in addition to his wife Marybeth, is survived by his

12

daughters Kayla, Emily, and Victoria McGovern, his brother, Michael McGovern and his wife,

13

Jennifer, his sisters Betty Christofaro and her husband, Kevin, Barbara Chappell and her husband,

14

David, Kathleen Daniels and her husband, Curtis, Mary Simmons and her husband, Brian, and

15

Teresa "Terri" Paquin. He also leaves behind his uncle, Reverend Edward J. McGovern, an Aunt,

16

Patricia Gill, his brothers-in-law, Robert Connell and his wife, Debby, Thomas Connell and his

17

wife, Lisa, Peter Connell and his wife, Dina, and Paul Connell and his wife, Lisa, seventeen

18

nieces and nephews, nine grand-nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family members,

19

including Joe Santagata, whom he loved as a second father. Mr. McGovern was predeceased by

20

his brother, William McGovern; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

2

hereby expresses its condolences on the passing of Mr. Edward Joseph McGovern; and be it

3

further

4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

5

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Marybeth McGovern and Family.
