EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF BRUCE S. PLACE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this House has learned of the passing of |
2 | Bruce S. Place, the beloved husband for forty-one years to Debra Place, devoted father of Andrea |
3 | Place, Michelle Place, Heather Place, Bethany Place, and Jason Place, and the very proud |
4 | grandfather of Liam, Aidan, Maeve, Tess, Cy, Hannah, Isaac, Abigail, Ian, and Rhiannon; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Bruce Place was the son of Clinton and Katherine Place. For forty-one |
6 | years, he had worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry at MagSeal Corporation, retiring in |
7 | 2006 as executive Vice President; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Although Mr. Place had most recently resided in the Town of North |
9 | Kingstown, he had been a longtime resident of the City of Warwick. His devotion to the |
10 | community and public service led to his successful election to the Warwick City Council, where |
11 | he served from 2007 to 2013. During his tenure on the Council, Mr. Place had served as President |
12 | for four years and earned a reputation for both fairness and ultimate professionalism; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Place had devoted his time and myriad talents to a number |
14 | of altruistic community and environmental organizations both in Rhode Island and in Sebago, |
15 | Maine; and |
16 | WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Bruce Place, a steadfast and honorable gentleman, |
17 | left the City of Warwick and the State of Rhode Island a far better place because of his life’s |
18 | endeavors. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and set a standard for excellence in public |
19 | service that is an inspiration to us all; now, therefore be it |
20 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |

1 | Providence Plantations hereby extends deepest sympathy on the passing of Bruce S. Place; and |
2 | be it further |
3 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
4 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Debra Place and Family. |
