	RELATING TO ANIMAL AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY - PSITTACINE BIRDS

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Sections 4-11-4 and 4-11-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 4-11 entitled
2	"Psittacine Birds" are hereby amended to read as follows:
3	4-11-4. Banding of birds imported, sold, or given.
4	All psittacine birds imported, purchased, sold, exchanged, bartered, or given away must
5	be closed metal seamless banded with a band identifying the breeder by whom they were bred. A
6	microchip may be used in lieu of an identifying band.
7	4-11-5. Banding of breeding stock.
8	All psittacine breeding stock must be closed metal seamless banded by January 1, 1960.
9	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

	BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

1	This act would remove the requirement of using metal seamless bands to allow flexibility
2	in using modern, safer methods of identifying and tracking psittacine birds within the state.
3	This act would take effect upon passage.
