RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- CONVENTION CENTER

AUTHORITY ACT

     Introduced By: Representatives Fellela, Lima, Messier, Mendonca, and Costantino

     Date Introduced: January 25, 2018

     Referred To: House Finance

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 42-99 of the General Laws entitled "Convention Center Authority

Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     42-99-23. Convention center naming rights.

     In addition to all other powers and duties conferred upon the convention center authority

pursuant to § 42-99-6, the convention center authority is hereby authorized to enter into contracts

for naming agreements for the Rhode Island Convention Center and the authority shall solicit bids

and select an applicant in accordance with the authority's standards for this naming agreement,

and compliance with any applicable state bidding requirements. The authority is hereby

authorized and empowered to promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the administration

of this section and provided further, all funds generated pursuant to this section shall be deposited

in the general fund.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would provide a bidding procedure for naming rights to the Rhode Island

Convention Center.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
