HONORING KRISTEN DART AND WISHING HER MUCH SUCCESS AS A POLITICAL | |
DIRECTOR FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD EMPIRE STATE ACTS | |

1 | WHEREAS, In 2012, Kristen Dart moved to Rhode Island to become a community |
2 | organizer for Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. In 2015, she was named Deputy |
3 | Director of Public Policy for the City of Providence and in 2016, was promoted to the position of |
4 | Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the City of Providence; and |
5 | WHEREAS, To the immense good fortune of the House of Representatives, Kristen |
6 | became Deputy Director of the House Policy Office in January of 2017. Her responsibilities have |
7 | included staffing and coordination of the Towing Storage Act Commission and the School Start |
8 | Time Commission as well as working on various pieces of legislation; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure at the State House, Kristen has continued honing her |
10 | skills and knowledge, and her love of the legislative and political process has ultimately resulted |
11 | in an individual who is supportive of the legislators she so capably serves; and |
12 | WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the House, Kristen loves to travel, most |
13 | recently visiting Cuba. She also enjoys touring the state's local breweries, including taking the |
14 | "Best of RI Breweries Tour." She was formerly a women's basketball coach and has continued |
15 | pursuing her love of the game as a season ticket holder for PC Basketball games; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Kristen will be leaving her position with the House, but her life will surely |
17 | continue at a vigorous pace with her new appointment as Political Director for Planned |
18 | Parenthood Empire State Acts where she will be directing the organization's legislative, lobbying, |
19 | and electoral efforts. Her appointment stands as testament to the depth of her abilities and drive |

1 | because success isn't simply a result of good fortune, but is due to utilizing one's talents, focus, |
2 | and determination to achieve one's goals; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Kristen's advocacy for children and human rights, equal pay, and social |
4 | justice has made her a tremendous role model for all young women and returning to her New |
5 | York roots will give her more time to spend with family and focusing on issues that are her |
6 | passion; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Kristen Dart on becoming Political Director for |
9 | Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts and thanks her for her service to the legislature and the |
10 | people of our state. Her intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bode well for her future success |
11 | and we wish her a productive and successful career; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Kristen Dart. |
