It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 42-46 of the General Laws entitled "Open Meetings" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 42-46-8.1. Frivolous complaints. |
4 | If the court finds an open meeting complaint frivolous, unreasonable, or groundless, and |
5 | filed with the intent to harass, it may require the person filing the complaint to pay the defendant |
6 | a reasonable attorneys' fee for defending against the complaint. |
7 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
