It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 16-21 of the General Laws entitled "Health and Safety of Pupils" is |
2 | hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 16-21-37. Possession of feminine hygiene products. |
4 | (a) A student, while on school property or at a school-related event or activity, may |
5 | possess and use over-the-counter products to treat menstrual cramps or vaginal yeast infections |
6 | without a physician's or parent's note. |
7 | (b) Nothing in this section shall make the school district or its personnel liable for any |
8 | damages under this section. |
9 | (c) The school district may encourage schools to educate pupils on the safe use of over- |
10 | the-counter medications. |
11 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

4 | of such products, but shall not hold the school district or its personnel liable for any damages. |
5 | This act would take effect upon passage. |
