EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF PEARL SARNO | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this House has learned of the passing of |
2 | longtime Warwick resident, Pearl Sarno, better known as "Rusty" to her family and many friends. |
3 | She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund T. "Ed" Sarno, the loving mother of Fred B. "Ted" |
4 | Sarno and his wife, Lois, Edmund Burke Sarno, and Jeffrey Paul Sarno and his wife, Claudia, and |
5 | the very proud and doting grandmother of seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Rusty was the daughter of the late Fred and Nettie |
7 | Blackmar. She had been employed for many years as a cosmetic sales representative for the Ann |
8 | & Hope Stores and subsequently by Cherry & Webb Co. until her retirement in 1990; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Energetic and contributing members of the community, for more than fifty |
10 | years Rusty and her husband, Ed, had been very active in local and state politics, and had shared a |
11 | special affinity for Warwick's current Mayor, the Honorable Scott Avedisian, and the City's |
12 | former Mayor Lincoln Chafee; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In addition to her family and political activities, Rusty enjoyed flower |
14 | gardening and cooking, especially during the holidays. She was a devout Catholic and longtime |
15 | communicant of St. Rita's Church in Warwick; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Rusty Sarno enriched the lives of all who knew and loved her, and she will |
17 | be dearly missed and always fondly remembered; now, therefore be it |
18 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
19 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Pearl "Rusty" |
20 | Sarno; and be it further |

1 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Fred and Lois Sarno, Edmund Burke Sarno, and |
3 | Jeffrey and Claudia Sarno. |
