H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING BRANDON CASALE ON BEING NAMED THE 2018 SMITE WORLD

CHAMPION GAMER

     WHEREAS, It is fitting that this House recognizes those young people who have exalted

themselves through their talents and unflagging commitment to excellence in their chosen field;

and

     WHEREAS, Brandon Casale, a 17 year-old senior at Cranston High School West, is a

third year student in the Cranston Area Career and Technical Center’s (CACTC) Interactive

Digital Media program; and

     WHEREAS, Possessing excellent hand-eye coordination and amazing stamina, Brandon

began playing the online, multi-player game Smite four or five years ago just for fun. After

acquiring solid background knowledge from taking courses at CACTC, where he learned

computer science skills including coding, graphics, and frames per second, he perfected his game

and became a true challenger; and

     WHEREAS, Smite is a ranked system, where the more a player succeeds, the more they

progress. After playing on a lower-end team, Brandon's victories and skills earned him

recognition from his peers and placement as the fifth spot for the North American team, where he

is the second youngest player on the team; and

     WHEREAS, In January of 2018, Brandon's team, playing for the E-Sports Smite Pro

League, competed at the world championship tournament in Atlanta, Georgia, playing the game

“Moba”, a mythology-based game, in front of 15,000 people, with 100,000 people watching

online. Brandon's win earned him an amazing $120,000 and the title of MVP of the tournament;

and

     WHEREAS, Brandon dared to dream, and had the talent and skill to make those dreams

become a reality. In addition to his gaming and computer skills, he has been described as a polite

young man with a great personality, and he is truly deserving of our recognition and praise; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates and recognizes Brandon Casale on being named the

2018 Smite World Champion Gamer. We wish him good health, much happiness, and continued

success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Brandon Casale.
