H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND THANKING ROSEMARY L. BOWERS FOR HER GENEROSITY

AND KINDNESS IN GRANTING THE WISHES OF CHILDREN WITH LIFE

THREATENING ILLNESSES

     WHEREAS, Rosemary Bowers, better known as "the Fairy Godmother," has devoted

more than thirty-five years of her life to granting the wishes of children with life threatening

illnesses; and

     WHEREAS, In 1982, Rosemary founded and served as Executive Director of "A Wish

Come True," the 1st wish granting organization in the State of Rhode Island. In 2013, after

parting ways with the initial organization, she founded "Rosemary's Wish Kids, Inc." (RWK); and

     WHEREAS, RWK is a nonprofit wish-granting organization that makes dreams come

true for children, aged three through twenty-one, from Rhode Island and Southeastern

Massachusetts. It is the only organization that grants the wishes of children who are over the age

of eighteen; and

     WHEREAS, Whether it involves a child's wish to go to Disney, have a specially

equipped bicycle, or a backyard playhouse, through donations, raffles, and various fundraisers, as

well as the support of a totally volunteer staff, Rosemary magically makes their wishes come true;

and

     WHEREAS, Rosemary Bowers truly makes a difference for children who have already

faced and continue to endure a lifetime of obstacles, and she is deserving of our adulation and

gratitude; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and thanks Rosemary L. Bowers for her generosity and

kindness in granting the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Rosemary L. Bowers.
