RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 31-3-48.1 of the General Laws in Chapter 31-3 entitled |
2 | "Registration of Vehicles" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
3 | 31-3-48.1. Plates for recipients of Distinguished Service Cross Plates for recipients of |
4 | Congressional Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross |
5 | and Silver Star. |
6 | (a) The administrator of motor vehicles is empowered to make available to recipients of |
7 | the Congressional Medal of Honor, United States Army Distinguished Service Cross, Navy |
8 | Cross, Air Force Cross and Silver Star medals medal a special motor vehicle registration plate |
9 | indicating the owner as a recipient of the distinguished service cross that medal. The applicant |
10 | shall be required to pay a registration fee and a transfer charge of five dollars ($5.00) for the |
11 | plate. |
12 | (b) The plate shall contain the words "Distinguished Service Cross" name of the |
13 | appropriate medal across the top of the plate, shall bear an the insignia for the distinguished |
14 | service cross appropriate medal, and then a numeral or numerals. |
15 | (c) Upon the death of the holder of any "Distinguished Service Cross" such plate, the |
16 | plate shall be transferred to the surviving spouse for the spouse's lifetime or until remarriage. |
