CONGRATULATING DIANE RICH ON BEING NAMED HEAD OF THE ROCKY HILL | |

1 | WHEREAS, Diane Rich has been inspiring students to envision the possibilities, to have |
2 | confidence in themselves and their abilities, and to believe in a future full of promise for more |
3 | than thirty years. On July 1, 2018, she will become the Head of the Rocky Hill School and will be |
4 | the first woman Head of School since Dorothy Marshall founded Rocky Hill School in 1934; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Rocky Hill School's mission is "to educate the whole child—mind, body, |
6 | and spirit." Located on 84 acres along the Potowomut River and Narragansett Bay in East |
7 | Greenwich, the school enrolls students in nursery through the 12th grade and offers a rigorous |
8 | curriculum of college academics with small class size, integrated technology, innovative teaching |
9 | methods, and interactive educational experiences; and |
10 | WHEREAS, By unanimous consensus, the Rocky Hill School Board voted to name Ms. |
11 | Rich as the Head of School, describing her as "the individual who has been largely responsible |
12 | for overseeing the implementation of all of our forward-thinking academic programs and |
13 | structures" and that she was "uniquely qualified to continue to advance our school"; and |
14 | WHEREAS, In 2013, Ms. Rich joined the faculty at Rocky Hill School as an English |
15 | teacher and Dean of Faculty. Most recently, she has served as the Assistant Head of School for |
16 | Internal Affairs and has overseen all curriculum and academic programs, faculty, and operations; |
17 | and |
18 | WHEREAS, Previously, Ms. Rich served as founding Dean of Humanities at the award- |
19 | winning Bedford High School, and has 30 years of experience in education. She earned her |

1 | Bachelor's degree from Boston College and received her Master's Degree in Education from |
2 | Harvard University; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Diane Rich is an enormously well-respected educator, whose genuine love |
4 | of learning has already helped hundreds of children to succeed, and will surely continue to inspire |
5 | us all; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
7 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Diane Rich on being named Head of School at the |
8 | Rocky Hill School. We moreover wish her good health and much success; and be it further |
9 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
10 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Diane Rich, Head of School-Designate, |
11 | Rocky Hill School. |
