ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND WISHING HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AT THE | |
UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY AT WEST POINT | |

1 | WHEREAS, Connor Sheridan is an award-winning athlete and an outstanding student at |
2 | East Greenwich High School. He is the son of Keith and Deanna Sheridan and the brother of |
3 | Grace and Ellie Sheridan; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Connor Sheridan's numerous athletic accomplishments include being the |
5 | AAU Junior Olympic National Champion in Men's Decathlon, and being named an AAU All- |
6 | American in the Decathlon on July 29, 2018, in Detroit, Michigan. Connor is also the Rhode |
7 | Island State record holder in the Decathlon, and broke the record at the AAU Junior Olympics; |
8 | and |
9 | WHEREAS, Connor also competed at the New Balance High School Pentathlon Indoor |
10 | Nationals held March 10th of 2018 at the Armory in New York City. The Pentathlon is a one-day, |
11 | five-event competition consisting of the hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and the 1000 |
12 | meter race. In a contest filled with the best athletes from all corners of the United States, Connor |
13 | finished in 6th place, and was named a New Balance High School Indoor Nationals All-American |
14 | in the Pentathlon; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In recognition of Connor Sheridan's sterling athletic success, he was named |
16 | an AAU Joel Ferrer Award winner, an award given annually to the top three male and female |
17 | athletes at the Junior Olympics for outstanding performance and sportsmanship. Connor is the |
18 | only New England athlete, male or female, to win this important award in the 27 year history of |
19 | the Joel Ferrer Award; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Given Connor's distinguished record of success in athletics, and his |
2 | outstanding record as a student, it is no surprise that he has earned the prestigious honor of being |
3 | a United States Military Academy at West Point committed athlete; now, therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
5 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Connor Sheridan for his outstanding record of |
6 | athletic achievements. We furthermore wish him continued success at West Point and in all of his |
7 | future endeavors; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Connor Sheridan. |
