H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING CHARIHO HIGH SCHOOL BOYS LACROSSE PLAYER WILL

FOLEY FOR SCORING HIS 100TH GOAL

     WHEREAS, Will Foley, the star midfielder and Captain of the Chariho Chargers Boys

Lacrosse Team, has already accomplished much in his distinguished athletic career, particularly

after he helped lead his team in 2017 to an undefeated season and the Division III Boys Lacrosse

State Title. He also garnered Providence Journal First Team Division III Lacrosse honors in 2017;

and

     WHEREAS, This season, however, Will Foley has taken his game to another level by

becoming the first lacrosse player in Chariho High School history to score 100 goals. He

accomplished this historic achievement while playing midfield, a position less known for

producing high scoring players than those who play the attack position. Will is able to score so

much from the midfield because of his tireless play all over the field, his skill and strength,

especially in the offensive zone, and because he takes most of his team's faceoffs and is so good

at doing so that he often finds himself in scoring position immediately after winning the faceoff;

and

      WHEREAS, Thus far in the 2018 season, Will Foley has once again led his Chariho

team on another undefeated, championship run. Through the first twelve games of the season, the

Chariho Chargers Boys Lacrosse Team has compiled a perfect 12-0 record and has outscored the

opposition by the overwhelming margin of 181 to 39. A vital component of Chariho's dominance

the last two seasons has been the leadership and outstanding play provided in every game by Will

Foley. Perhaps his coach, Ryan Meade, summed up his game best, describing him as "a natural

talent at the lacrosse game", and praised him for "playing like a coach on the field"; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Chariho High School lacrosse standout Will Foley

for his incredible achievement of scoring 100 goals, the most in the history of Chariho Boys

Lacrosse. We wish him continued success in the rest of the 2018 lacrosse season and in all of his

future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Will Foley.
