HONORING REPRESENTATIVE PATRICIA L. MORGAN FOR HER SERVICE TO THE | |
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Elected on November 2nd of 2010, the Honorable Patricia L. Morgan has |
2 | served with honor and distinction in the Rhode Island House of Representatives for the past eight |
3 | years, as the Representative for District 26, representing the citizens of Coventry, Warwick, and |
4 | West Warwick; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Earning the respect of her fellow legislators, Representative Morgan was |
6 | chosen to serve as the House Minority Leader by the Republican Caucus in November of 2016; |
7 | and |
8 | WHEREAS, During her tenure in the House, Minority Leader Morgan has co-sponsored |
9 | legislation requiring periodic reviews and cost-benefit analysis of regulations impacting |
10 | businesses, and serves as the Conference Policy Chair and was previously a member of the House |
11 | Finance Committee; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Minority Leader Morgan attended Mississippi State University, earned her |
13 | Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University, her Master's degree in Education from |
14 | Rhode Island College, and an advanced degree from Providence College; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In addition to long hours at the State House, Minority Leader Morgan is |
16 | employed as a Financial Advisor for Spire Investment Partners, and is the mother of three sons, |
17 | Bernie, Stephen, and Brian; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Minority Leader Morgan's civic and community involvement includes |
19 | membership in numerous local and professional groups including, the Pawtuxet Valley Rotary, |

1 | past President of the National Federation of Republican Women's Rhode Island chapter, former |
2 | Chair of the Rhode Island Republican Party, founder of Riverwalk/Royal Mills Restoration |
3 | Project, and was previously involved with Cub Scouts, the Hearthstone Lions and Common |
4 | Cause, and had previously served as a member of the West Warwick Zoning Board; and |
5 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Patricia Morgan has brought wisdom, financial acumen, and |
6 | a tremendous work ethic to the General Assembly during her years in office. Her service to the |
7 | citizens of Coventry, Warwick, West Warwick, and the state, has ultimately made Rhode Island a |
8 | better place to live and flourish; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
10 | Providence Plantations hereby honors and thanks Representative Patricia L. Morgan for eight |
11 | years of dedicated service. We wish her the very best health, happiness and success in all her |
12 | future endeavors; and be it further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Patricia L. Morgan. |
