PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Aaron Regunberg was first elected to the Rhode Island |
2 | House of Representatives on November 4th of 2014, serving a constituency that encompasses |
3 | neighborhoods in the City of Providence. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University |
4 | with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He and his wife, Katie Cielinski, make their home |
5 | in the Mount Hope neighborhood of Providence; and |
6 | WHEREAS, As one of the youngest members of the House freshman class of 2015, |
7 | Aaron Regunberg learned quickly, maturing into a legislative innovator and staunch supporter of |
8 | Rhode Island's working families. He is a member of the House Committee on Labor and the |
9 | House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources; and |
10 | WHEREAS, During his first year in the House, Representative Regunberg successfully |
11 | sponsored legislation raising the state's minimum wage for tipped workers by $1. Most recently, |
12 | he was the lead sponsor for legislation guaranteeing paid sick leave for more than 100,000 Rhode |
13 | Island employees, and legislation establishing online voter registration in the state, as well as the |
14 | creation of a new renewable energy program for low- and moderate-income housing; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In addition, Representative Regunberg led a legislative commission that |
16 | brought about policy changes in the use of solitary confinement in Rhode Island, and was a lead |
17 | sponsor for increased funding for school repairs, and legislation focusing on clean energy, |
18 | universal health care, and reproductive rights; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Representative Regunberg has been active in the community as co-founder |

1 | of the Providence Student Union, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that has helped |
2 | students, parents and educators to come together to promote change in our schools, including |
3 | healthier school lunch options, more bus services for children, repairs for crumbling school |
4 | buildings, more student-centered learning, and a reduced emphasis on high-stakes testing; and |
5 | WHEREAS, As a Representative of the people, Aaron Regunberg has brought a new |
6 | sense of purpose and focus on the public's business, recognizing that a collegial environment best |
7 | serves the citizens of Rhode Island; and |
8 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
9 | Providence Plantations hereby honors Representative Aaron Regunberg for his dedicated service |
10 | to the people of Providence and the State. We moreover wish good health, much happiness, and |
11 | success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Aaron Regunberg. |
