EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOSEPH V. COMISKEY | |

1 | WHEREAS, Joseph V. Comiskey passed away on December 28, 2017. He was the |
2 | beloved husband of Gloria Comiskey for sixty-nine years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mr. Comiskey was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of the late |
4 | Anthony and Anna Comiskey. He served our nation with honor and valor during World War II as |
5 | a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and had been stationed in the Aleutian Islands during |
6 | the war. After the war, he took great pride in sharing his photographs and war experiences with |
7 | numerous eager listeners; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Upon returning home from the service, Mr. Comiskey spent most of his |
9 | professional career working as a Chief Reliability Officer for the Northrup Grumman Corp., |
10 | retiring after twenty-one years of distinguished service. He was particularly proud of his |
11 | contributions to the United States Shuttle program and Boeing aircraft; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Mr. Comiskey was also a dedicated family man who took great pleasure in |
13 | his responsibilities as a father and husband. In addition to providing for his family, he made a |
14 | point of teaching his daughters important skills, including how to ski when they were young, that |
15 | have proven invaluable to their daily lives; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Mr. Comiskey was a man of many talents and varied interests. He enjoyed |
17 | dancing, sailing, travelling, quahogging, and playing cards. He was a great handyman around the |
18 | house who could fix almost anything, and was a competitive pistol shooter who won many |
19 | awards; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Besides his wife, Gloria, Mr. Comiskey leaves behind his daughters, Sandra |

1 | Lanni and her husband, Dennis, and Karen Comiskey Jenkins and her late husband, Christopher. |
2 | He is also survived by his grandsons James Blanding and his wife, Julie, Cody and Derek |
3 | Jenkins, Andrew Lanni and Matthew Lanni, and many other relatives and friends. He was also the |
4 | brother of the late Ernest Comiskey; now, therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
6 | hereby expresses its condolences to the Comiskey Family on the passing of Mr. Joseph V. |
7 | Comiskey; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Gloria Comiskey and Family. |
