CONGRATULATING THE WARWICK VETS GIRLS SOCCER TEAM ON WINNING THE | |
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP | |

1 | WHEREAS, In a thrilling game that went into overtime and was decided by penalty |
2 | kicks, the Warwick Vets Junior High School Girls Soccer Team won the Rhode Island state title |
3 | over Curtis Corner Middle School; and |
4 | WHEREAS, After a scoreless first half, Curtis Corner took the lead in the second half but |
5 | Warwick Vets mounted a furious rally and tied the game with 4:50 left in the game on a clutch |
6 | goal scored by Amelia Murphy on a free kick; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Two five minute overtime periods were played without either side breaking |
8 | the stalemate. As a result, penalty kicks were used to decide the championship, and in the penalty |
9 | kick phase, Warwick Vets prevailed 2-0 thanks to two goals scored by Amelia Murphy and |
10 | Dasani Stewart and the sterling play of goalkeeper Janelle Mixner, who made two outstanding |
11 | saves; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Winning a State Title is a tremendous achievement, one requiring that every |
13 | member of the team give their all and place team needs ahead of individual desires. Warwick |
14 | Vets had those attributes in abundance all season as they were led by the sterling play provided |
15 | by Mikayla Boyd, Gillian Brown, Mackenzie Costa, Kathryn Creamer, Lindsay Flanders, Seasia |
16 | Kong, Samantha Laurent, Sarah Lynch, Faith Meade, Janelle Mixner, Amelia Murphy, Madelyn |
17 | Narcavage, Olivia Nardolillo, Keira Ramsden, Ava Schobel, Sophia Schobel, Katie Shaheen, |
18 | Dasani Stewart, Kylie Whitney, Isabella Zuller, and thanks to the outstanding leadership provided |

2 | hereby congratulates Warwick Vets Girls soccer Team on winning the State Championship; and |
