S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING DANIEL PUCELLA FOR SEVENTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO

THE SOUTH KINGSTOWN COMMUNITY

     WHEREAS, Daniel Pucella is a graduate of South Kingstown High School. During

World War II he served our nation with honor and valor in the United States Navy aboard the

USS Natchez, a ship that patrolled and escorted convoys along the Atlantic Ocean and the

Caribbean Sea. The USS Natchez was credited with rescuing eighteen survivors of a frigate that

was torpedoed by a German submarine and with sinking a German submarine off the coast of

North Carolina; and

     WHEREAS, After returning from military service, Daniel served the citizens of South

Kingstown with integrity and tireless devotion in a variety of capacities. He served as a member

of the South Kingstown Police Department for twenty-five years, retiring with the rank of

Captain and is a lifetime member of the Peace Dale Fire Department, having joined in 1946. He

has also been a member of VFW Post 916, Washington County, for seventy years, and was a

founding member of the South Kingstown Elks, Lodge # 1899, in 1953; and

     WHEREAS, For seventy years, Daniel Pucella has been an integral part of the South

Kingstown community. He has protected the lives and property of the town and has touched the

lives of countless people. It is therefore fitting that he be honored for his seventy years of

exemplary service to the good citizens of South Kingstown; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby honors Daniel Pucella for seventy years of dedicated service to the South Kingstown

community and wishes him and his many guests a wonderful and joyous time at the celebration

taking place on January 6, 2018, at the Scallop Shell Nursing home where he resides with his

wife, Norma; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Daniel Pucella.
