It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 28-9.2-13 of the General Laws in Chapter 28-9.2 entitled |
2 | "Municipal Police Arbitration" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
3 | 28-9.2-13. Request for collective bargaining. |
4 | Whenever wages, rates of pay, or any other matter requiring appropriation of money by |
5 | any city or town are included as matter of collective bargaining conducted under the provisions of |
6 | this chapter, it is the obligation of the bargaining agent to serve written notice of request for |
7 | collective bargaining on the corporate authorities at least one hundred twenty (120) days before |
8 | the last day on which money can be appropriated by the city or town to cover the contract period |
9 | which is the subject of the collective bargaining procedure expiration of the collective bargaining |
10 | agreement. |
11 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

1 | This act would change the last day upon which a bargaining agent for a municipal police |
2 | arbitration may make written request to the corporate authorities for collective bargaining from |
3 | one hundred twenty (120) days before the last day on which money can be appropriated by the |
4 | city or town to cover the contract period which is the subject of the collective bargaining |
5 | procedure, to one hundred twenty (120) days before the expiration of the current collective |
6 | bargaining agreement. |
7 | This act would take effect upon passage. |
