RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY - LICENSING OF HEALTH CARE FACILITIES -

INFLUENZA IMMUNIZATION

     

     Introduced By: Senators Lynch Prata, McCaffrey, Miller, Metts, and Nesselbush

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 23-17 of the General Laws entitled "Licensing of Health-Care

Facilities" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     23-17-64. Influenza immunization.

     From October to March of the following year, each hospital shall offer, prior to

5

discharge, immunizations against influenza virus to all inpatients sixty-five (65) years of age and

6

older, unless contraindicated, and contingent upon the availability of the vaccine, in accordance

7

with the latest recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the

8

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

9

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would require hospitals to offer immunization against influenza virus to all

inpatients sixty-five (65) years of age or older from October to March of the following year.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
