FORTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE EAST BAY COMMUNITY ACTION | |

1 | WHEREAS, Susan Schenck, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the East Bay |
2 | Community Action Program (EBCAP) and an outstanding and lifelong member of the |
3 | Middletown community, has devoted more than forty years of dedicated service to myriad people |
4 | and families in Rhode Island; and |
5 | WHEREAS, In 1975, Ms. Schenck began her association with New Visions for Newport |
6 | County, which is now known as EBCAP; and |
7 | WHEREAS, During her tenure with the organization, Ms. Schenck has worn many hats |
8 | including serving as Director of Development and Planning, Director of Community Action |
9 | Programs, Deputy Director, and Acting Executive Director; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Ultimately, Ms. Schenck was named Vice President and Chief Operating |
11 | Officer of EBCAP with responsibilities that include supervision of the Child Opportunity Zone |
12 | program, Workforce Development and Adult Education programs, Development and Public |
13 | Relations, and Administrative Services. She also serves as the agency's Safety Officer; and |
14 | WHEREAS, In addition to her work with EBCAP, Ms. Schenck's altruistic endeavors |
15 | within the community have encompassed serving as the President of the Middletown Prevention |
16 | Coalition and the Middletown High School and Gaudet Middle School Parent Support Group, |
17 | and volunteering her talents to the Newport Partnership for Families, the Governing Council of |
18 | the Newport Family and Child Opportunity Zone at Pell Elementary School, the Women's |
19 | Resource Center of Newport County, Lucy's Hearth Homeless Shelter, the Middletown Public |

1 | Schools Volunteer Program, and at the Women's Resource Center of Newport County; and |
2 | WHEREAS, One of Ms. Schenck's proudest accomplishments involved her efforts with |
3 | the Families Insisting on Safe Student Transportation group that resulted in making school bus |
4 | transportation safer in the state through the mandatory placement of school bus monitors on all |
5 | Rhode Island elementary school buses; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Currently, Ms. Schenck is a member of the social action committee at St. |
7 | Lucy's Church in Middletown where she also teaches in the children's homily program; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Ms. Schenck's wonderful leadership and passion for her work has truly |
9 | distinguished her as person worthy of our utmost admiration and gratitude; now, therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
11 | hereby congratulates and thanks Susan Schenck for forty years of outstanding contributions to |
12 | EBCAP and wish her much happiness and fulfillment in all her future endeavors; and be it further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Susan Schenck. |
