EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ALICE D. AUGUSTUS | |

1 | WHEREAS, Alice D. Augustus, of Newport, passed away on February 8, 2018, at the |
2 | Village House Nursing Home. Mrs. Augustus was born on June 28, 1929, in Middletown, Rhode |
3 | Island, the daughter of the late Deulinda Silvia and Manuel P. Silvia. She was the loving wife of |
4 | the late Lawrence Augustus; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Augustus' was employed by Rhode Island Hospital Trust for thirty-two |
6 | years. After leaving the banking industry, she worked for the law offices of Joseph Palumbo, |
7 | Chris Behan and Joe Hook. She was also a member of the Vasco Da Gama Society of Newport |
8 | and was a past member of the Middletown Democratic Committee; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Augustus' first priority in her life was her family, where she created a |
10 | warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a devoted wife and mother and a |
11 | wonderful friend to many. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Alice D. Augustus is survived by her five children, Lawrence Augustus, Jr., |
13 | and his wife Eileen, Alice M. Hicks, Elizabeth Hicks, and her husband Ralph, Janice Tasso, and |
14 | her husband Jimmy, and Ronald Augustus, and his wife Karen. She is also survived by ten |
15 | grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; now, therefore be it |
16 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
17 | hereby expresses its condolences to the Augustus Family on the passing of Alice D. Augustus; |
18 | and be it further |
19 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
20 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Lawrence Augustus, Jr., Alice M. Hicks, |
