CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE ERIN LYNCH PRATA ON BEING NAMED THE | |
GRAND MARSHAL OF THE 59TH ANNUAL ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE IN WEST | |

1 | WHEREAS, The West Warwick St. Patrick's Day Parade is hosted annually by The |
2 | Pawtuxet Valley Chapter of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. This year marks the 59th |
3 | anniversary of this special parade and the Honorable Erin Lynch Prata has been chosen to be the |
4 | Grand Marshal; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Senator Lynch Prata is a distinguished member of the Rhode Island Senate, |
6 | representing District 31, which includes parts of Cranston and Warwick. She is a leading member |
7 | of the legislature and is highly regarded for her knowledge and command of complex legal issues; |
8 | and |
9 | WHEREAS, Senator Lynch Prata was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island. She is |
10 | a graduate of Tollgate High School and Boston College, where she attained a bachelor's degree in |
11 | history. She also earned a J.D. from Columbus School of Law at Catholic University; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Senator Lynch Prata was first elected to the Rhode Island State Senate in |
13 | 2008, and has served as the Chairwoman of the Senate Judiciary Committee since 2017. She is a |
14 | past Chairwoman of the Senate Rules Committee, and currently is also a member of the Senate |
15 | Rules, Government Ethics and Oversight Committee, the Special Legislation and Veterans' |
16 | Affairs Committee, and the Joint Committee on Economic Development; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Senator Lynch Prata, during her tenure in the Senate, has been a leader on |
18 | numerous issues of importance to Rhode Island citizens including raising the minimum wage for |
19 | working Rhode Islanders, protecting Rhode Island's precious freshwater wetlands, improving |

1 | veterans' access to higher education, and protecting victims of domestic violence. Thanks to her |
2 | hard work, Rhode Island has become a safer and more prosperous state; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Being named Grand Marshal of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in West |
4 | Warwick is an exceptional tribute bestowed upon those who have exhibited dedication and |
5 | excellence within the community. Senator Lynch Prata, with her delightful Irish charm and many |
6 | years of meritorious service, more than meets the requirements expected of a Grand Marshal of |
7 | this special occasion; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
9 | hereby congratulates the Honorable Erin Lynch Prata on being named the Grand Marshal of the |
10 | 59th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in West Warwick. In the words of a famous Irish saying |
11 | "May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind always be at your back, may the sun shine warm |
12 | upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you |
13 | in the palm of his hand"; and be it further |
14 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed |
15 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Erin Lynch Prata. |
