EXTENDING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ANTHONY GIARRUSSO | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deepest sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Anthony Giarrusso, loving husband of Mary Govoni-Giarrusso, and the cherished father of |
3 | Phyllis Giarrusso, Patricia Giarrusso, and Paul Giarrusso, and two stepchildren, Jon D. Govoni |
4 | and Christine Muise. He was also blessed with three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; |
5 | and |
6 | WHEREAS, Better known as "Tony" to his family and many friends, Mr. Giarrusso was |
7 | born in Providence, the son of the late Caesar and Domenica Giarrusso. He was a graduate of |
8 | Providence Trade School, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education and his Fire |
9 | Science Certificate from Rhode Island College, and had attained the Manpower Institute of |
10 | Leadership Certificate from the University of Rhode Island; and |
11 | WHEREAS, An incredibly hard-working man, Mr. Giarrusso had been the owner and |
12 | operator of Tony's Service Station and Garage in Cranston for forty-two years, and had also |
13 | taught automotive repair at West Bay Vocational School for many years; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Always an altruistic and active supporter of his community, Mr. Giarrusso |
15 | was a member of the CCOD Davisville Group, the Fraternal Order of Elks, the North Kingstown |
16 | Community Chorus, a Life Member of Tower Hill Fire Company, a member of the Navy Seabee |
17 | Veterans of America Island X-1 Davisville, served as Past Chair North Kingstown Arts Council, |
18 | was a Coordinator of Veterans and Memorial Day Parades, a member of the North Kingstown |
19 | Democratic Town Committee, and was on the Board of Directors for the South Kingstown |
20 | Firefighters Relief Association, the Eastern Seaboard Service Station Dealers Association and |

1 | Credit Union, the United Automotive Group, and the North Kingstown Performing Arts Center |
2 | Seabee Theater. He had also served as President of the Indian Lake Shores Fire District |
3 | Association, as Captain of Tower Hill Fire Company, and was a Coordinator for the Annual |
4 | Fireman's Memorial Day Parade; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Tony Giarrusso endeavored to make this world a better |
6 | place. He was a loving husband and father and a steadfast friend, who enriched the lives of all |
7 | who knew him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
9 | hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Anthony Giarrusso; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Mary Govoni-Giarrusso and Family. |
