S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ELIZABETH M. TULLY

     WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

2

Elizabeth M. Tully on April 1, 2018, the loving wife of Sanford H. Tully and cherished mother of

3

our friend and colleague Jeffrey E. Del Gigante; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Tully, better known as "Liz" to her family and many friends, was the

5

secretary at Quidnessett Elementary School for twenty-eight years. She also volunteered her time

6

and talents at the school as a seamstress constructing costumes for its many productions of stage

7

musicals; and

8

     WHEREAS, Liz was also active with the North Kingstown Little League for many years,

9

served as a State Committee woman for District #32, and was a past Chairperson of the North

10

Kingstown Democratic Town Committee; and

11

     WHEREAS, In addition to her husband and son, Liz leaves behind her parents, Joseph J.

12

and Patricia A. Sousa, Jr., her stepsons, Jeffrey M. and Joseph V. Tully, her siblings, Maureen P.

13

and Joseph R. Sousa, and eight beloved grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Kathleen

14

G. Sullivan; and

15

     WHEREAS, Liz was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and also enjoyed summer concerts

16

at the town beach and holiday celebrations with her family; and

17

     WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and a dear friend to

18

many, Liz Tully will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but she will forever live in their

19

hearts and memories; now, therefore be it

20

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Elizabeth M. Tully; and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Sanford H. Tully and Family.
